Korean Literature Reading List

I recently talked about wanting to read more Korean Literature/ Books written by Korean Authors and I thought why not share my current Reading/To be read list with you guys. These are in no particular order, simply as they came to mind.

The Healing Season of Pottery

A novel about a young woman who finds healing through pottery after leaving her TV broadcaster job.

The Rainfall Market

A story about a girl who receives a mysterious ticket granting her access to a magical marketplace that appears on the first day of the rainy season where she can choose to completely change her life.

The Dallergut Dream Department Store

A story about a Dream Department store that is located within the collective subconscious where people can purchase dreams of all kinds.

The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down

A book that explains how our fast paced world can easily get overwhelming and encouraged the reader to find inner peace and happiness through mindfulness and slowing down in the fast paced world.

Marigold Mind Laundry

A story about a women who runs a magical laundromat, where people can bring in their painful memories to be ‘ washed away” as stains on a shirt which then become flower petals, allowing the people to emotionally heal.

I Decided to Live as Me

A book that is about helping us free ourselves from the pressure of living up to other people’s expectations and focus on what truly matters: Not living for anyone else but for yourself!

Love For Imperfect Things

A book about encouragement for the reader to embrace their flaws and imperfections, arguing that true happiness comes from accepting oneself, rather than striving for the unattainable perfection.

Some of these books are kind of Self-help types of books but I am really hoping that they are helping me at least getting a different perspective on things. The topics of these self-help books are definitely things that I kind of struggle with and again I know they won’t magically cure things, I just want to get a different perspective and maybe change the way I think about certain things.

Now that I am more seriously started to learn Korean I thought it was just fitting to get into Korean Literature, sadly I am not at the point in my studies to read this books in their original form and am still in need of reading the translated version though I hope that in the future I will be able to read them in Korean.

Have you guys read any of these? Do you have any other Korean Literature recommendations I would really love to hear them.
