4 Places to find Inspiration

 

I have talked about my little art block that wants to make itself at home in my brain. So, I thought we could talk a little bit about where to find inspiration. Let’s go.

Internet

Of course, there are so many places online that you can find inspiration, sometimes I find it quite overwhelming and often find myself feeling not good enough, because I see all these amazing artists out there. ( I am working on not comparing myself to others, bear with me he he) I did want to mention it in case some people don’t know about looking up cute things that are in the area of your subject matter 😊

The great wilderness

Going outside and taking in nature is an amazing way to get inspired, plus it helps you step back from your computer and take a few deep breaths. Lying in the grass and just looking at the clouds can already inspire you, as you create cloud pictures in your mind.  Little animals can also be a wonderful inspiration. The colors of flowers, the flowers themselves, everything you see can be used as an inspiration. Nature is absolutely wonderful!

The Mall

I know this might seem weird, however, sometimes when I find myself in a funk, I like to go to the mall, check out Popmart, and of course, look at all the people that are shopping. This can give you inspo for how to dress your characters, color combinations, and so much more. A lot of the windows also share current trends, so you can see what color combos are currently in, and that can help when creating patterns, for example.

Books

A lot of the time, I get ideas when reading books. My brain always creates a movie in my head when reading, and that in itself is already a huge inspiration. Of course, it all depends on what you want to draw. Fantasy worlds, people, and so much more. Books are amazing.
