Let's talk focus and concentration
Hello, my
dears!
Today I want
to talk about Focus Issues because I have been having them really bad to the
point that I feel like I have got nothing done. As a matter of fact, as I was writing
the beginning of this, I got sidetracked by Jujutsu Kaisen and then by cleaning
the house. I sit down, and I want to do things, but my brain keeps going in a million
different directions.
Last night
I was working on a little DnD project and was able to focus, BUT I had music on
in the background. Easy to think that that would do the trick all the time, sadly, that is not the case. I am listening to music as I type this now, and my brain has already been distracted by a text.
I really
want to try the Pomodoro technique; however, I am a little worried that the
break periods will pull me out of concentration and focus. Have you ever tried
the Pomodoro technique? How does it work for you?
On the
internet, it talks about keeping your desk space distraction-free, but then, honestly,
I would need a naked desk ha ha. I can’t do that because I need my art things on
it as well, so when I get to work on them, they are right there, ready for
action. Otherwise, I have the problem where I want to draw, but by the time I
pull it all out, I no longer want to do it. The same goes for knitting and other
hobbies.
I am
starting to wonder if it’s ADHD or if it’s a side effect of one of my medications.
Because I looked it up, and one of mine can cause focus issues. It’s just weird
that I have been taking them for a while and suddenly, within the last few
months, it's gotten this bad. However, my anxiety has increased in the last few
months. MHZ It’s all adding up a bit here.
What do you guys do when you can’t concentrate or focus? Do you have a secret weapon to combat it? Please let me know, and thank you for listening to this little Focus TED talk haha
