Tips for Self-Love
While February is the month of Love, I think a lot of people
tend to forget about the most important person, and that is themselves. It’s
easy to love others but sometimes it’s hard for us to love ourselves. Here are
a few tips on how to practice self-love and how to appreciate yourself 😊
Forgive yourself!
Yes, we all make mistakes in the past, but it doesn't do
anything to carry that shame of guilt with you. Let go of all that and forgive
yourself.
Practice self-care
This one is hard for me because I am always worried about others
that I don’t take the time to make sure I am physically and mentally okay. Make
sure you do that. Take that extra long bath, put on that face mask, read that
book. Do all the things that are good for you! Take care of yourself like you
take care of others
Meditate
Day to day life can get quite overwhelming, sit down close
your eyes, take deep breaths and focus on the now, be in the moment, be
present.
Be kind to yourself
This is very much in line with Self-care. Be kind to
yourself and talk to yourself in a positive way, talk to yourself like you
would to a friend. Don’t put yourself down, be your own cheerleader.
Avoid comparing yourself to others
All of these points go hand in hand, don’t compare yourself
to others. You are on your own track not on the same track as someone else.
Achievements and all don’t compare yours to others. Everyone grows and achieves
things at different times in their lives. Don’t put yourself down if, for example,
your friend is married but you are not. IT IS OKAY!
Set boundaries
Set boundaries and distance yourself from people that aren’t
your cheerleaders, toxic people. Distance yourself from habits and
relationships that harm you rather than help you. This also goes for family,
just because they are family doesn’t mean they can treat you like poo!
I hope some of these help you think about yourself and love
yourself more.
