How to create a relaxing Sunday
Growing up in Germany Sundays were relaxing, stores were closed, and you got to spend time with your family. On Sundays after my mom passed away we went to my Grandparents for lunch after that we hung out at home, went for walks or sometimes my dad and I would get in the car and visit dealerships to look at cars, that was our bonding time. Since living in the US Sundays have not been quite as relaxing for me. I don’t know why, but it seems that there is no break between one week to the other, everything is just go, go, go. So here are some tips on how to spend Sundays so that Sundays are calm and relaxing.
Thanks to it being the weekend the world is a little bit
quieter outside; less cars tend to drive on the street early in the morning and
what best way to eat breakfast and drink coffee than to do it outside while
listening to the birds chirp. We have a large pond behind our house and plenty
of ducks call it their home. It is so cute to see them waddle around or swim in
the pond dunking their heads in the water to find some treats. Take this time
while sitting outside to just breathe, take deep breaths in and out, even close
your eyes and listen to your surroundings. I love doing that, especially when
there is a breeze outside. It is so refreshing and quite honestly grounding as
well. Sometimes it feels like the wind can take the worries away and it is a
reset for my mind as I can let go of some of my anxiety.
If you don’t have to drive anywhere don’t. Just spend time
at home or go for walks with the family or alone if you need some time to
yourself. I always feel like driving and going places takes so much of my time,
which of course it does but it’s hard to relax when that happens. So, leaving the
car in the driveway and just going on some trails to go for a walk is a
wonderful way to spend Sundays. Now don’t get me wrong I also understand that
to get to some trails you will need to take the car but if you have a good
walking route near your place and it’s safe to walk go out and walk 😊
It’s incredibly mind clearing.
Have a nice easy meal. Use the slow cooker so you can put it
in and forget about it until it is ready to go. If you want Sundays to be your
break day don’t spend it with hours in the kitchen unless of course the kitchen
and cooking is your happy place, then go ahead and whip something new up.
Sit outside and enjoy the sunset if the weather permits it.
Our weather has been giving us the most beautiful sunsets lately and I love
walking the pup during sunset as I get to enjoy it to the fullest as the colors
change the lower the sun gets.
I understand that not everyone has the luxury to be home on
Sundays. If your Sunday is in the middle of the week, try using some of these
tips on your day off.
Spend Sundays in a way that is relaxing to you. Read books, watch movies, play board games with the family. Whatever it is that helps you relax and bond with your family, do it, give it a try. Try setting one day to be the clear change from one week to another. 😊
