Are you more or less motivated in Spring?

Today, we will be talking about the age-old question: Are you more motivated in spring than any other season?

For me, I feel more motivated. I definitely feel more motivated to change things. If you haven’t read my “Change of the Season” post, feel free to do so :) In that post, I talk about how I would like to change during spring, mostly things I want to work on.

I don’t know why spring is such a big motivator. Is it because birds are returning, is it because the ground starts to thaw ( well, not here in Florida, but you know what I mean), is it because everything starts turning green?

Let’s look at it a little bit deeper. The spring equinox changes the tilt of the Earth’s axis, granting us more sunlight and more warmth. This is causing snow to melt, plants, flowers, and trees to bloom. And it is waking up the animals from their hibernation. Could that mean that the sun is waking us up from some sort of hibernation? I mean, let’s be honest, we enter a sort of hibernation, not like the literal word, like animals do, but we do tend to get cozy and bundle up in our homes during winter. We seek the coziness in those dark winter months as the light is short and the nights long. Does the sun bring us out of the coziness into activeness? People tend to spend more time outside in the spring months, gardening is beginning again, and people visit sites to view the blossoming of cherry blossom trees, and of course, others.

The sun is, in a way, literally waking up the world. Waking up the people. Could this be why so many, including myself, feel more motivated in spring? Does the spring equinox and therefore also the sun awaken something in us ?? I would like to hear your take on it. Do you feel more motivated, or does it not really matter to you, and you have the same kind of motivation all year round? I am rather curious to hear different views and experiences on this.
