What song transports you straight into a memory?
There is one song that, without fail, transports me into a memory and a good one at that. You know how some songs are songs that will remind you of a sad time in your life, and don’t get me wrong, I have those as well but the one I will be talking about is definitely one of the good times.
The song is “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” by Jack Johnson.
I wanted to add a YouTube video, but the only one on the official page is super low quality,y so I didn't really want to subject you all to that ha ha
It transports me straight into my brother's car. Growing up, we used to go “downtown” a lot, it was more the city center, really. We would go around the different shops and just look around, and on good days also buy something. The stores that were a must-visit were the book stores, the toy store that had model building supplies, and of course, the stationery stores, which included the department stores. That was our favorite thing to do on Saturdays. We would often also walk through the market and stop by our favorite “food truck” and have a Currywurst with fries. After we were finished with our shopping, we would head back to the car, which was often parked a little further out because the chances of a parking spot were so much better. In the car, my brother would turn on the MP3 player and plug in the adapter to the car's stereo system, and then we would listen to music on our way home. Often followed by us singing along to different songs. However, “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” just stuck with me. I have memories of it being sunny, but I also have memories of us wearing our rain jackets and the raindrops chasing each other on the window. Jack Johnson will always remind me of my brother. We were always “Better together”. I was incredibly close with my brother, even now I still feel close to him, though it is harder to show when living so far away. I miss him a lot and our Saturday outings.
