August mood board
My mood board for August is very nature-oriented.
I don’t know
why, but in my head, August always feels like the start of harvest season. I
remember as a child the field behind our house was always full of wheat in the
summer, and then as late summer arrived, we would see the tractors from our
window harvesting and plowing the field. They often worked into the night, and
you could see their headlights moving around. It’s a fun memory from childhood, looking out the window and just watching.
Now that I
live in Florida, summer means thunderstorm season, and with thunderstorms also
comes the rainbows. Despite popular belief, Florida summers are incredibly wet.
Usually, we get rain and thunderstorms every single day. That’s how you know 4
o’clock rolled around ha ha
August also
reminds me of the sunflowers my grandpa used to grow in the garden. They would
get so tall and were so beautiful. You would be able to see where birds picked
out the seeds; it was amazing. I really miss my grandpa; he passed away this
year, and I often think about him. That’s when random memories pop into my head
of us in the garden or playing at their house.
I love nature, the morning fog on the fields, the little mushrooms growing here and there, providing food for various wildlife. It is simply beautiful. I believe that sometimes we get so busy in our lives that we forget to look at the “little” things. Or we forget to stop and take a minute to take it all in. Take the quote “Stop and smell the roses” literally and take time to stop and smell the flowers, take in the beauty that is around us, and take a deep breath while you are at it. Just for a moment, try to relax in the hustle and bustle of life.
