Morning Pages and My Thoughts
Hello friends, as I was browsing and clicking through Pinterest
I got a bunch of posts talking about Morning Pages, so here I was curious to
see what it was and clicked on the links. Come to find out that Morning Pages
are a stream of consciousness journaling technique. You wake up in the morning,
sit down and write 3 pages of thoughts that come to mind. Uncensored, unedited
and completely raw thoughts.
Here are my honest thoughts about it without having tried
it, or should I better say maybe concerns. When I wake up in the morning it’s
all about get ready and walk the dog, make breakfast and then I have the time
to sit down and relax a bit. I honestly don’t know if I can get up and just
start writing, my hands won’t be able to do that either. I would feel bad for
the dog who has been overnight without going potty to wait for me to write 3
pages.
3 pages is a lot, I barely finish one sometimes when
journaling. My brain likes to overthink and put a barrier up when it comes to
writing, I don’t know why.
I have read different articles on morning pages and some I’ve
found make me stray even further away from even wanting to try Morning Pages.
Some of them talk about setting an alarm even earlier so you can write the pages
before starting the day. Pushing through the 2nd and 3rd
page to be really honest if I am supposed to write and have something free
flowing forcing myself to write just doesn’t seem to have a benefit to me at
least.
As you can tell I have some thoughts about it or at least
about some of the articles and blog posts I have read. Could it be that I will
give Morning Pages a go some time? Yes, it is possible, but I would really need
to make it fit into my morning and not force myself to write them first thing.
Maybe reading the articles is the reason I have such a negative view on them,
maybe I should have gone in blind and just tried it out. But, too late now. Ha ha
Have you guys tried Morning Pages before? What are your thoughts on them?
